- Must be at least 18 years of age and pass a physical examination.
- Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Applicant must possess sufficient physical strength and stamina to allow proper performance of his/her duties.
- Must have a current valid SC driver’s license.
- Due to use of self-contained breathing apparatus by all personnel, no long hair or beards will be allowed.
- A physical test will be given to determine coordination, timing, agility, as well as muscular strength.
- Must be willing to complete SCFA Basic Firefighter course (57 hours) within 18 months of hire date.
- Proper classified gear must be worn to all fires.
