Election Commission
The Chester City Council appoints three members to serve on the Election Commission to oversee Municipal Elections in accordance with State Election Laws. The City holds elections on the first Tuesday of May of each odd year. Council consists of a Mayor and eight Council Members who serve four year terms. The Mayor is elected at large and the Council Members are residents of one of four wards but are elected at large. Click on the City Council to find information on the Mayor and Council Members.

Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission has jurisdiction to review and approve or disapprove plans for any structure in a historic district or a structure in any district designated as a historic structure in the Zoning ordinance proposed to be constructed, altered, relocated, demolished, partially demolished or proposed to have the exterior architectural character altered. Applications may be obtained from the Chester County Planning Department. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.
